This Program offers experiences across the Vizient enterprise, giving you the opportunity to develop a broad understanding of the use of informatics, analytics and leadership in decision-making. Experiences in leadership, advanced programming, and database management will help you become a thought leader in the informatics and pharmacy leadership.

The Vizient pharmacy analytics and informatics team continually pushes the envelope to provide our members actionable data to support their efforts to drive cost-effective care and improve clinical outcomes. As the Pharmacy Informatics and Supply Chain Leadership (PISCL)trainee, you're integral to this work. Our Program will prepare you to:

  • Engage and network with experienced preceptors and mentors with diverse backgrounds from health care to analytics, as well as leaders from Vizient member institutions.
  • Become a leader in the informatics arena and prepare you to succeed in a range of pharmacy-related roles.
  • Leverage data and analytics effectively in an evolving global pharmaceutical supply chain and clinical environment to help drive improved clinical outcomes.

Eligibility requirements

  • Graduation from a pharmacy program accredited by the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE)
  • Completion of online application
  • Completion (or pending completion) of a PGY1 pharmacy residency accredited by the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP)
  • Equivalent experience will be considered in the application process. If a candidate is selected under this criteria they will be classified as a Fellow.
  • Active pharmacy licensure or eligibility for licensure in the state of Texas

Application process

Preliminary applicant interviews will be held virtually through the ASHP Personal Placement Service (PPS) during the ASHP Midyear Clinical Meeting in December. Due to changes in the format of the Midyear, specifics are subject to ASHP’s decision making.

Our Program does not use the ASHP PhORCAS application, therefore applicants must supply:

  • Curriculum vitae
  • Letter of intent
  • Three letters of recommendation

Why join our program

Travel
  • Occasional travel for residency purposes may be required.
  • Travel expenses are reimbursed for meetings and rotation activities approved by the residency program director.
  • Professional meetings may include the Vizient Summit, American Society of Health-System Pharmacist (ASHP) Midyear Clinical Meeting, and Vizient University Health System Consortium.
Holidays and paid time off (PTO)
  • The PISCL trainee is allotted 14 total days of PTO for personal vacation, holidays and sick leave. (Attendance at professional meetings is not considered PTO).
  • Holidays on which the office is closed: New Year’s Day, Martin Luther King Jr. Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving and the day after, Christmas Day.
Health care and 401K
  • PISCL trainees are eligible for a benefit package that includes medical, dental, vision, disability and life insurance from their first day of employment.
  • Employees are also eligible to participate in a Health Savings Account and 401(k) savings plan.
Office space and amenities
  • The PISCL trainee is assigned a personal desk space, laptop computer with docking station, double monitors, file storage and office supplies.
  • The trainee also has access to printing, copying, faxing and scanning facilities.
