Vizient Statement on Release of the Omnibus Package

IRVING, Texas, December 20, 2022 – Vizient, Inc. applauds congressional leaders for including critical provisions for healthcare providers in the year-end government funding package. Healthcare providers, including hospitals, are facing severe financial challenges related to the impact of COVID-19, inflationary pressures and ongoing workforce shortages. By including provisions to prevent the looming 4% Medicare cuts due to Pay-As-You-Go (PAYGO) requirements, extending telehealth and Hospital-at-Home flexibilities, investing in the healthcare workforce, and improving maternal health, mental health, rural health and pandemic preparedness, this agreement will help mitigate some of the financial challenges providers are facing while also offering some stability for the future.

While Vizient is encouraged by the myriad positive policy updates included in the Omnibus, we will continue to advocate for relief and longer-term stability for physician payments, appropriate provider reimbursements, additional support for the healthcare workforce and increased accountability among commercial payers to ensure patient care is not compromised.

Vizient urges Congress to swiftly pass this critical Omnibus legislation and looks forward to working with the 118th Congress in the years ahead.
