Overview
Barriers to equitable healthcare have become even more prevalent for Asian American, Native Hawaiian and Pacific Islander communities in the U.S. Equitable healthcare also means ensuring care meets people where they are and in a way that feels comfortable to them.
Vizient partners with several agencies focused on creating access to healthy foods, safe neighborhoods and quality learning environments for members of their community. Additionally, Vizient’s corporate grant-giving has funded patient navigation services and language/translation services from healthcare providers working to create more equitable access to care.
Partnerships
Pilsen Food Pantry
Vizient volunteers love supporting our Chicago-based partner, the Pilsen Food Pantry, which works for community wellness — targeting hunger, fighting racial and economic inequities, and providing an inviting space for learning and cultural engagement. They also address both social and health injustices through lenses of empowerment, collaboration and sustainability. Pilsen Food Pantry supports more than 1400 families monthly with food, clothing, school supplies, toys, personal hygiene materials and more. Vizient also contributes to the Pilsen Food Pantry’s mission through grantmaking.
Mission Arlington
Our APIDA@Vizient DNA collaborated with the Latinx@Vizient DNA in 2023 to volunteer with Mission Arlington (located in Arlington, Texas) — an organization that offers free food, clothing and household materials to over 1000 families weekly. Their services are open six days a week to community members, at no personal cost, and continue to expand to meet the growing clientele.
Covenant House
Our dedicated West Coast employees are consistent supporters of Covenant House in Oakland, California. Covenant House has been opening doors to homeless kids since 1972 and now stands today serving youth in 31 cities across 6 counties reaching 80,000 kids every year. Covenant House is also a major supporter and advocate for survivors of human trafficking. Programs offer a continuum of care through street outreach crisis care and long-term support.
Urban Growers Collective
Our APIDA@Vizient DNA and Black@Vizient DNA collaborated on a volunteer project this year with Urban Growers Collective, a Chicago-based nonprofit urban farm working to build a more just and equitable local food system. Rooted in justice, Urban Growers Collective harnesses the power of the community to create a more sustainable environment and food system in Chicago – a cause that both APIDA and Black communities in Chicago have so often led and championed.
