Improved accountability

Improving quality and patient safety

UCI Health — the clinical enterprise of the University of California, Irvine — improve its quality scores driving collaboration between their chief financial officer and chief medical officer teams. By working together, the teams transformed productivity, improved their case mix index and better captured patient safety incidents.

The health system reported 94 PSIs before Vizient began helping with the issue but has reduced PSIs to five cases in the 2022–2023 fiscal year and has substantially improved their rank in the 2023 Vizient Quality and Accountability scorecard.
